I rarely work from a complete image - as presented in a photograph.  

 

Many of my landscapes start with fragments taken from larger scenes or panoramas - things seen in the background or unrelated, perhaps accidental inclusions.

Others are explorations of those elements of landscape that are rarely given much attention - hopefully raising questions about their significance - surfaces, stones on the ground, shadows, a hedge, shoreline or other boundary, etc.
